David J. Kroll, Ph.D. is Professor of Pharmacology and Director of Master’s Degree & Certificate Programs at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Kroll is a natural products pharmacologist whose research on botanical medicine in cancer and infectious diseases has received funding from the National Institutes of Health for 20 years. He has published 72 peer-reviewed journal articles, 18 review articles, 5 book chapters and 2 books. Dr. Kroll was originally appointed to the CU Pharmacy faculty from 1992 until 2001 and was named a President’s Teaching Scholar of the University of Colorado in 2000. Dr. Kroll then spent 18 years in North Carolina in positions that included Senior Research Pharmacologist at the Natural Products Research Laboratory of Research Triangle Institute and Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at North Carolina Central University. He rejoined the CU Pharmacy faculty in 2019 after working as an independent medical journalist whose beat focused on the health effects of supplements and plant-based medicines, including cannabis. Dr. Kroll holds a B.S. in Toxicology from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology & Therapeutics from the University of Florida.
